Solutions for latent heat of phase change in numerical analysis of arc welding

  • Three solutions to deal with the phase changes and its latent heat have been discussed in numerical analysis of gas tungsten arc welding processes for stainless steel sheet. The fraction of liquid method has been manipulated in detail based on the phenomena of physics, and the algorithm in programming has been presented. Calculated results show that the predicted weld pool geometry agrees much better with the experimental measurement while taking account of latent heat of phase change.
