This paper describes the recent developments of hardfacing procedures and advanced automatic welding systems in The Central Institute of Welding of The German Democratic Republic. The "A-B-Z-V" system, or hardfacing-loading-filler material-procedure, makes it well choosing the deposit procedure and the filler materials. The morden overlaying systems, according to the classification of hard faced compoments, are provided, such as ZIS12-63——specifically programing robot designed to hardface rotators, ZIS12-96——automatic equipment designed for internal hardfacing bores, ZISl3-43——hardfacing unit suitable for rails, ZIS15-40——portable hardfacing welder, robot designed for the hardfacing of side plates and robot for hardfacing the coal-ball forming dies.
