Investigation of digital controlling in welding power system based on DSP and MCU

  • A two processing controlling digital inverter welding power system was designed based on digital signal processor(DSP) and micro control unit(MCU) and its multi functions were achieved.DSP(TMS320F240) was mainly used in sampling welding parameters and calculating control algorithm,whereas MCU(80C196KC) was used in implementing interfaces including keyboard,display and communication.Liquid crystal display is adopted for man machine interaction.The key point of the design was the communication between DSP and MCU,therefore,a dual port RAM(IDT7005) was adopted to ensure its reliability and rapidity.Complex programmable logic device was used to realize digital pulsed width modulation.The results indicates that fully digital controlling of multi function welding machine was realized through DSP-MCU controlling system.
