Characterization of mechanical properties for aluminium alloy welded joint

More Information
  • Received Date: November 22, 2005
  • The characterization of local material properties has been evaluated using the punch shearing test. An inversed technique was illustrated to assess the tension behavior of materials from this punch shearing test.In addition, an typical aluminium alloy 6063 and welded joints for auto industry have been tested by the punch shearing procedure to identify the relation between yield strength, ultimate strength and strain-hardening coefficient of local material of welded joint. Results show that the material mechanical properties can be identified accurately by the punch shearing procedure, which will supply the information of joint deformation and failure for aluminium automobile crash assessment.
