  • Metal transfer behaviors of flux-cored wire in CO2 arc welding have a direct effect on the usability of flux-cored electrodes.Using high speed photography and ANALYSATOR HANNOVER,metal transfer modes of flux-cored wire were observed and analyzed. The reseach results are confirmed. With the change of welding parameters, the metal transfer of flux-cored wire can be calssified into globular repelled transfer, surface tension transfer and small droplet transfer. For globular repelled transfer, due to the longer stop of big droplet in the end of wire, phenomena of explosive spatter from droplet and spatter owing to strong gas escape etc obviously appear.Surface tension transfer lies between globular repelled transfer and small droplet transfer.Small droplet transfer is the best transfor mode of flux-cored cleetrode because of stable welding process, little spettering, good weld appearance good and high produefinity. For small droplet transfer, the slag column has a guiding effect on the metal transfer.
