Parameter optimization of double ellipsoidal heat source model by ANSYS

Abstract
To automatically solve the parameter of double ellipsoidal heat source model (double ellipsoidal heat source model, DEHSM), a new method for solving the parameters of DEHSM was proposed based on ANSYS. Then, a program was developed for solving the DEHSM parameter, and then the program failure were analyzed, the strategy to solve the problem was listed. Finally the DEHSM parameters in four different process were solved with the program, and the difference between calculated values and measured values of penetration and width of welding pool was compared. Theoretical analysis and example results indicate that, in the premise of accuracy assurance, the proposed method and the program can effectively solve the DEHSM parameters. The proposed method and the pattern for setting the related optimization variables can be also suitable to Gauss heat source model and 3D conical heat source,etc.
