Abstract
Quiet element method is based on the finite element theory. In the case of convergence, the accuracy and efficiency of the simulation can be improved by setting the appropriate quiet element parameters. Three points in the middle of the base metal are chosen in this study. The peak temperature and the stress and maximum residual stress are analyzed for different quiet element parameter. The results show that, with the distance between the point and the weld increases, the effects of quiet element parameter increase. When the parameter value is 10-5 and 10-4, the simulation results are relatively stable. When the parameter value is 10-3, the difference between this result and the first two results is obviously large. When the parameter value is 10-1 and 1, the difference becomes obvious. At the same time, the time required for software analysis increased with the decrease of the quiet element parameters.
