Influence on performance of plasma overlapping cladding Fe-Cr-C-Ti coatings

  • Due to the close relationship between wear resistance and microstructure of materials, the preparation method of overlapping cladding coating has an important influence on the wear resistance of the coating. Based on previous experimental basis, the plasma overlapping cladding Fe-Cr-Ti-C coatings of one layer, two layer and three layer coatings were prepared. Microstructure of the composite coatings and wear morphology were investigated by means of SEM and micro-hardness of the coatings was tested by semi automatic micro-hardness tester. The coefficients of friction of the coatings were measured and calculated by abrasion tester. By comparing the microstructure and wear resistance of three kinds of overlapping cladding coatings, the impact of overlapping cladding technology on wear properties of the coating was discussed,hoping to provide the guidance for the coating preparation process. Results indicated that the friction coefficient of the coating decreased and wear resistance and load characteristic were improved significantly with the overlapping cladding layers increased.
