Abstract
In this paper, a new brazing filler has been developed to join ceramic or ceramic matrix composite with metal. The Cf/SiC composites and 304 stainless steel were joined using TiZrBe filler metal at 920-1050℃ for 15-90 min. The effect of brazing parameters on the microstructures of the brazed joint was investigated by SEM, EDS, XRD and AES. The mechanical property of the brazed joints were measured by mechanical testing machine, the effect of brazing parameters on the mechanical property were analyzed. The results show that the brazing joint mainly consists of FeZr2, Zr based solid solution, BeTi and Ti-Zr reaction products. There action layer consisted of ZrC, TiC, and Be2C/Ti-Si is formed near the Cf/SiC composite while FeTi/αFe reaction layer is formed adjacent to 304 stainless steel. The maximum shear strength of the joints brazed at 950℃ for 10 min is109.3 MPa.
