Abstract
The FeCrBSiMo coating was fabricated on cylindrical AISI 20 steel substrate by high velocity arc spraying process. The coating with porosity of 3.64%,microhardness of 918HV0.1 and bond strength of 52MPa was manufactured. The high temperature oxidation performance was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and compared with AISI 20 steel. The results indicated that the FeCrNiBSiMo coating had an excellent high temperature oxidation performance that is much better than AISI 20 steel. The weight gain of the coating was only 1/25 of AISI 20 steel after oxidization at 750℃ for 80 h. The compact oxide film consisting of iron oxide and chromium oxide formed on the surface of the coating can baffle the oxygen diffusion that protects the coating from further oxidation.
