Properties of Ni-Al anti-skid coatings

  • Two types of Ni-Al alloy coatings were prepared on 45 steel by duel wire spraying process in which NiAl-95/05 alloy wire and NiAl-80/20lux-cored wire were employed separately in order to investigate the effects of spraying materials and techniques on the performance of anti-skid coatings. The microstructure, phase structure and bonding strength of the resultant coatings were were measured. The static friction coefficient of the coatings was measured with inclination method. The environmental resistance of both coatings was studied with NaCl solution bathing. The results show that both coatings were well combined with the base materials and no cracks were observed. The average bonding strength was 68 MPa for NiAl-95/05 coating and 69 MPa for NiAl-80/20 coating. Both coatings performed excellently in corrosion environments. The static friction coefficient of NiAl-95/05 coating was smaller than that of NiAl-80/20 coating.
