  • A novel and highly effective double-electrode metal inert gas(MIG) welding process was presented.However,the coupled arc under open-loop control condition was unstable,which led to serious defects in the resultant weld.A closed-loop control system for double-electrode MIG welding process was designed to resolve the instability problem under open-loop control system.Then a rapid prototyping control system based on xPC real-time target technology was established,and the control software was designed with Matlab/Simulink tools.The results show that the fuzzy controller can satisfy the arc stabilizing control requirement,and have higher efficiency and lower spatter than the conventional MIG welding process.
