Abstract
A new type of Cr-Ni-Co austenite surfacing material was carried out by TIG hardfacing to the surface of 304 stainless steel. An ultrasonic vibratory apparatus under conditions in artificial seawater was used to test two materials'cavitation resistance, evaluated by weight loss. The cavitation morphology of Cr-Ni-Co overlaying in different time was observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results show that, compared with 304 stainless steel, the weight loss of Cr-Ni-Co clad layer is much lower, showing better cavitation-resistance.The SEM morphology shows that slippage and phase transformation are the main way of absorbing the energy of cavitation on the clad layer, the stress concentration makes the material easily crack, which lead to the fracture and spalling.
