Properties of 08MnNiVR large storage tank steel joints by automatic submerged arc welding

Foreign materials have been used in construction of large storage tank for a very long time in China.At present,the quenched and tempered high strength steel plate for large tanks was domestically developed and applied in the construction of large tanks in China.The mechanical properties tests of horizontal automatic submerged arc welding(SAW) joints of large tank steel plates of 08MnNiVR and the structural properties and Charpy impact fracture appearance were analyzed.It can be concluded that the mechanical properties of the joints can meet the requirements of the related standards of large tank welding construction.The hardness of HAZ is 224 HV10.The structures and toughness of domestic 08MnNiVR steel can meet the needs of construction and can replace the imported storage tank steel to be used in the construction of large storage tank.
