Numerical simulation for explosive welding process of metal plate

Abstract
Explosive welding process of metal plate were numerically simulated.By large-scale finite element analytic software ANSYS/LS-DYNA,jet and waveform were obtained.It was found that the experiment results were consistent with the simulated results.Numerically simulated results proved that the numerical model reflected the jet and wave formation process in the explosive welding accurately.Furthermore,characteristic points curves of pressure-time indicated that the pressure of near initiation point was less than that of far point.Under the conditions of the same thickness of drug layer,the point of near initiation was lack of composite energy,it was prone to improving boundary effect and affecting welding quality.In addition,numerically calculated pressure and velocity distribution of collision point compared with the theoretically calculated results,which showed that error of the results between numerical calculation and theoretical calculation was no more than 5%.It could provid an effective guide for selection of experiment parameters.
