The multi-pulse tempering process of spring steel joints in resistance spot welding was simulated by finite element numerical model to control the random tempering process effectively and improve the welding quality. The results show that the energy input can be controlled accurately when using multi-pulse tempering, and the tempering temperature and temperature field distribution are also controlled effectively. The spot weld of spring steel can be tempered fully and equably by multi-pulse tempering.
