Abstract
Linear friction welding (LFW) is a green environmental solid connecting technology. In the paper, the principle and characteristic of LFW was introduced, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of LFW joints of T titanium, including as-weld and heat treatment after weld, were studied. The results showed that the joints included three zones, the base metal, thermal mechanical affected zone and welding zone. Tensile results show that the joint tensile and yield strength (as-weld and heat treatment after weld) can attain 90% of the base metal, the maximum value of hardness appears at the weld center, and heat treatment after welding can make hardness distribution more uniform.
