Abstract
Fine grain titanium alloy is used extensively in aerospace and ailrraft because of its excellent comprehenslve properties and outstanding machinability. Fine grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy and common grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy were welded by tungsten iner-gas arc welding(GTAW) respectively. Welding parameters and appearance of two Ti-6Al-4V alloys welded were investigated. The results indicate that the heat conductivity impediment of grain boundary strengthened because of fine grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy grains refinement and grain boundary increasing. Thus, its coefficient of heat conductivity is decreasing. Camparing with appearance of common grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy, when the range of welding current parameter was wide, the appearance of fine grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy was bad. However, when the range of welding current parameters was narrow relatively, the appearance of fine grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy welded was better than the one of common grain Ti-6Al-4V alloy. The possible influencing factors were discussed. At last, according to the specimen size, an optimal welding current parameter(47~48) A was recommended.
