Abstract
The effects of shape, distribution and amounts of hardness phase M7C3(such as (Fe, Cr)7C3 and Cr7C3)on wear resistance of surfacing metal with the method of electro-magnetic stirring was researched. After plasma with magnetic field, the XRD, SEM, wear loss tests, micro-hardness tests were used to analysis the properties of surfacing metal. It's found that the distribution of hard phases of M7C3 is changed with magnetic parameters from no alignment distribution to hexagon alignment distribution, and wear resistance of surfacing metal is improved gradually. The optimal result is obtained when magnetic current is 3 A and magnetic frequency is 10 Hz, and the distribution of M7C3 is almost regular hexagon alignment in surfacing metal. The experimental results indicate that the hard phases with regular hexagon alignment distribution exhibits better wear performance than those with no alignment distribution of surfacing metal with proper magnetic parameters.
