Vacuum brazing of SiCp/Cu composite

  • Vacuum brazing of SiCp/Cu composite fabricated by powder metallurgy and followed by hot extrusion was carried out with Ti and AgCuTi brazing filler metal in different condition. The morphologies of joint shear fracture and shear strength were also investigated by means of scanning electron microscope and shearing test.The results showed that the bonding of SiCp/Cu composite performed with Ti filler is better than that with AgCuTi.The maximum shear strength of the joint brazed at 850℃ for 20 min is up to 70.5 MPa.When the volume fraction of SiCp increases, the shear strength of the joint decreases, and when the volume fraction of SiCp is more than 10 vol.%, the shear strength of the joint decreases more quickly.
