Laser welding volume energy and its influence on weld penetration in laser deep penetration welding

  • Welding volume energy was introduced to synthetically estimate the influences of welding parameters such as laser power,welding speed,defocusing distance and the dimension of laser focus on the weld penetration in laser deep penetration welding.The studied results showed that,it is direct proportion to laser power,inverse proportion to welding speed and exponential proportion of 4 orders to defocusing distance.The experimental results indicate the weld penetration is decided by welding volume energy in laser deep penetration welding and weld penetration increases linearly with the increasing of welding volume energy.
