Prediction of welding deformation in mild steel pipe using thermal elastic plastic finite element method

  • Based on the commercial software ABAQUS code,a thermal elastic plastic finite element model was founded to predict the welding temperature field,welding residual stress and deformation.A three dimensional finite element(FE) model was employed to simulate the temperature field and welding deformation in mild steel pipe by a multi-pass welding process.Experiment was also carried out to verify the simulated results.The final welding deformation simulated by the proposed numerical method is in a good agreement with the experimental results.
