Microstructure of ZrO2+WC made by ceramic coating melting-spraying

  • Melting-spraying technique was used to make several kinds of ceramic coating layers of ZrO2, WC or their mixture. Investigation on microstructures of coating layers by optical microscope, SEM and energy spectrum analysis etc has discovered that using melting-spaying technique can get good ceramic coating layers, which were melted together with parent metal. There existed metallurgical reaction in the coating layers because characteristics of remelting appeared. Coating layers had gradient characteristics. Microstructure of coating layers surface is the same as sprayed material and deeper layers as both surface and base metal. So coating layers' bond strength was increased and coating layers get denser, its structure property became better.Application range of this ceramic material has been widened.
