New Electrofusion Welding Method for Polyethylene Pipe

  • A new electrofusion welding method that adopted carbon fiber felt/polyethylene(PE) as a heat source was studied in this paper.On the basis of systematical analysis of the factors influenced the welding strength,the welding parameters were determined.The result shows that the dominating factors affected the welding performance are the input power,the temperature of weld interface and welding time.The ideal welding strength is obtained while the temperature of weld interface ranges from 140 to 220℃.And the effect of the weld time on strength is relative to the input power.The microstructure near the welding interface varies from polymer matrix.The fracture mode varies with molten time of welding interface.Compared with the current electrofusion weld,the method described in this paper possesses some advantages,such as low cost,easy to use and high generality etc.
