A New Residual Stress Reducing Method——pulsed Magnetic Treatment

  • Pulsed magnetic treatment is a entirely new non heating method to reduce residual stresses. The tests show that properly strongly pulsed magnetic treatment can lead to stress relaxation in both rigid restrained tensile specimen and welded specimen. Especially, the longitudinal and the transverse residual stress distributions indicate a feature of whole reduction. In addition, the number of time of magnetic treatment has the influence on the effects.
