Optimization of Welding Parameters and Microstructure of Welded Joint of Al2O3p/6061Al Composite

  • Effects of individual main parameter of diffusion welding Al2O3p/6061Al on the strength of joint were studied by comparing with aluminum base alloy, and the relationship between microstructure and strength of joint were also investigated. The results show that key parameter affecting joint strength is welding temperature. Main reason for poor weldablity of Al2O3p/6061Al Composite is attributed to the defects such as oxide film and reinforcement segregation in the welded joint. On the basis of this, diffusion welding of aluminum matrix composites reinforced with particle was successfully realized.
