Abstract
Chemical analysis, SEM, EDX analysis and X-ray analysis have been applied to the Mn-Si-Cr and Mn-Si-Cr-Mo system weld deposit which was formed by adding Cr and Mo into the Mn-Si System overlay metal. The purpose of this paper is to study in which way chromium and molybdenum can affect the abrasion resistance of weld deposit, establish the relation between the contents of chromium and molybdenum and the abrasion resistance and finally seek the optimum range of the alloying element constituent which makes the weld metal most economic and good for abrasion resistant. It is approved that chromium and molybdenum are solid-soluted in the matrix of Mn-Si-Cr and Mn-Si-Cr-Mo system medium carbon weld deposit for the range studied (Cr≤5.0%, Mo≤2.0%), and that the appropriate contents of chromium in weld deposit improve abrasion resistance while the contents of molybdenum do not improve the abrasion resistance efficiently.
