Abstract
This paper deals with the rapidly solidified structures and their wear behaviours of Ti-6Al-4V alloy laser surface alloyed with TiC. The results show that the wear resistance of TiC-alloyed specimens is 5~20 times as much as that of Ti-6Al-4V.The analyses with TEM, SEM, SEM, XRD show that the upper part of alloyed zone mainly consists of fast growing dendrite with orientation almost perpendicular to the surface, the lower part mainly consists of martensites, and the top of the zone is a white TiN/TiC.film Unlubricated sliding wear test shows that different structures have different wear resistance.The transition of wear mechanism depends upon normal load, stucture and hardness.
