Effect of nitrogen on impact toughness of deposited metals of Ti-microalloyed HSLA wire

  • The results of electrcanalysis showed that the content cf nitrogen combined with titanium in the deposited metals was very low and about 70 per cent nitrogen, approximately 100 ppm, still existed as the form of solution.Through TEM test and X-ray diffracticn analysis,it was discovered that there was a little retained austenite locating in the acicular ferrite boundary. It was considered that the nitrogen atoms had an active effect on the formalicn of telained austenite which stabelized the nitrogen atoms at the same time.Threfore, the content of nitrogen had no deleterious influnce on the impact toughness of the deposited metals.
