WELDABILITY OF DUPLEX FERRITIC-AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEELS

The welding metallurgical characteristics and weldability of duplex ferritic-austenitic stainless steels were studied in this paper. The results revealed that the weldability is good when the phase ratio α/γ of the base metal is 50/50.Duplex weld metal of higher austenite levels exhibits excellent properties of welding application and technology. The properties of the welded joint may be effectively enhanced by adopting neat multi-layer welding and technical welds.
