Influence of Y2O3 on microstructures and properties of Ni-base coating reinforced by in-site TiC particles

  • Ni-base coating reinforced by in-site TiC particles was prepared on 16Mn steel substrate by argon arc cladding technique. The coating material was made of with Ni60A self molten alloy powder, titanium powder, carbon powder and different amount of Y2O3. The microstructures of cladding coating were characterized and analyzed by using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The microhardness and wear resistance were tested. The results showed that optimal addition of Y2O3 made dendrites of coating microstructure lower, refined microstructure, significantly improved microhardness and wear resistance of cladding coating. The cladding coating added with 2% had the finest microstructure, higher hardness and good wear resistance.
