Abstract: The mathematical model used for simulation of automatical one-pass butt welding process is presented. The associated strain fields and stress fields were calculated and compared to measured values. The finite element method was used in the calculations, and a good agreement between the calculated and measured values was obtained. It is concluded that it is possible to simulate automatic butt welding process.
