Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to find the best way of decreasing the spatter losses in short circuiting transfer CO2 arc welding.Three different methods, namely, control by the welding current wave form, control by the pulsed wire feeding and the combined control, were investigated. It was found that there were two typical modes of transfer in the short circuiting welding process:the normal and the instantaneous short circui-ting.Spattering occurred in both normal and instantaneous short circuiting processes. All the three control methods mentioned above could decrease to a certain extent the spatterlosses in both short circuiting processes. And the combined control method, which removed nearly all the instantaneous short circuiting, gave the least spatter.
