Abstract:
The effect of main parameters on the weld appearance of 2A14 aluminum alloy was investigated by using a laser-MIG hybrid welding process with filler wire, including the laser power, defocus distance, welding speed, welding current, laser-arc distance and wire filling speed. The results were also compared to those with conventional laser-MIG hybrid welding process. It was found that the laser-MIG hybrid welding process with filler wire was feasible and it could achieve good weld appearance in a wide range of process parameters. Compared to the conventional laser-MIG hybrid welding process, during this new welding process, the weld appearance was similar, but deposition rate and reinforcement were biqger than the laser-MIG hybrid welding, with the same parameters.
